Northern Iowa suffered a tough one point home loss to Missouri State in their last game, but that loss isn't too bad considering Missouri State is experienced and the Panthers were in a tough spot coming off of a great tournament in Las Vegas. However, the Panthers are not happy about their loss and know they cannot afford to start conference play 0-2. The Panthers have a great point guard, probably the best in the Missouri Valley, in Kwadzo Ahelegbe, who will be key in them winning this game. Southern Illinois' best player, center Gene Teague, is questionable for this game with a sprained ankle. I expect him to play but he won't be close to 100%. Southern Illinois really struggled to score against Drake, and I expect them to struggle even more against Northern Iowa because they have the some of the best defensive statistics of any team in the country. Look for their great point guard, tough defense, and a huge motivational edge to be the differences in this game.
