In this section we will post information regularly that will help any kind of bettor, regardless of how skilled or experienced. The information will be brief and easy to understand, so that customers can quickly get good information without having to read long, boring articles.
7/19 - Now that football is fast approaching and the NFL season about to avoid a lockout, it is time to get ready for this season. It will be interesting to see what happens in NFL free agency as well. Some teams to watch out for this college football season are Notre Dame, Florida State, Florida, West Virginia, and a few others which will be discussed later.
6/24 - Football preparations have begun! All quality handicapping information related to this up-coming football season will be posted here several times throughout the week. Check back for the latest update so that you are fully prepared in August.
1/7 - It is important to change your handicapping approach in college basketball as the season progresses. What strategies worked in non-conference play is not going to be as effective in conference play. Some teams have developed or declined, while others have injuries to key players or have gotten players back from suspension or injury. Also, some teams have very strong home court advantages, while others struggle on the road in conference games. The PAC-10 has not had a strong home court advantage in recent years, while Duke and Kansas have the strongest home courts in all of college basketball. Also, the better teams in the BIG 10, such as Wisconsin, Michigan State, Purdue, and Ohio State, have good home court advantages as well.
1/5 - Lines are already moving for this weekend's NFL playoff games...be sure to look at the lines now and decide when to bet. If you like Kansas City or the New York Jets, then wait because money is coming in on the other side. Also, money is coming in on the UNDER in both the Saints / Seahawks game and Packers / Eagles game. Be sure to look at injuries as well because New Orleans, Seattle, New York Jets, and Baltimore Ravens all have some key players banged up. The average bettor thinks too much about what play to make instead of thinking about when to bet their play.
12/22 - A great bowl trend is to take OVERS in the early bowl games and UNDER in the later bowl games. The more time teams have to prepare and the more time that offenses are off, gives a huge edge to defenses. Also, offenses get out of rhythm with the more time they have off.
12/18 - Teams with better defenses and rushing games tend to do win and cover bowl games. Already we have seen the first three bowl winners be the teams that could run the ball better and the better defenses. Look at other things but running the ball and defense is where your analysis should start when looking at bowls.
12/10 - Be sure to check weather forecasts before betting on any NFL game this weekend. Now that we are in December, conditions can be very brutal, especially in northern cities where snow and wind can really have an impact on the outcome of football games. Several cities are expected to have bad snow/rain and wind this Sunday.
12/3 - It is absolutely critical to know key injury information this time of year in the NFL. Injuries to offensive and defensive linemen might not be talked about in the media or reflected in the point spreads but can have a huge impact on the games. The New York Giants are dealing with injuries on the offensive line, and Pittsburgh still has defensive end Aaron Smith out. NY Jets safety Jim Leonhard will be out for this weekend due to an injury suffered in practice today.
11/24 - Be sure to take a look at injury information heading into the Thursday Thanksgiving games. Cincinnati's secondary had numerous injuries in last week's game to Buffalo, so they had to bring in two free agents this week who will likely start or get substantial playing time. Tom Brady did not practice for the second day in a row for New England. Carson Palmer was in a walking boot for the past two days but is still expected to start on Thursday. Detroit will be without their great young running back Jahvid Best as well.
11/8 - There are three good player prop selections in tonight's ESPN Monday Night Football game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cincinnati Bengals. These free NFL selections are Carson Palmer OVER 221.5 yards (-130), Terrell Owens OVER 5 catches (-150), and Terrell Owens to have more catches than Hines Ward (-115).
11/7 - There is only one good player prop selection in tonight's Dallas Cowboys and Green Bay Packers game. It is Jason Witten OVER 6.5 catches (+130). It has a great payout and Witten has become a favorite target of Jon Kitna as well.
10/26 - Tuesday's college football game between Louisiana Tech and Boise State has some tough lines with the spread so high. However the Broncos have motivation to completely blowout teams in order to make a push for the BCS National Championship. The total is set extremely high as well. However the best selection is the 1ST HALF OVER 34 POINTS. Boise's starting offense will play the entire 1st half and Louisiana Tech has a decent offense. Look for them to get about 7-10 points and for Boise State to put up 28+ in the 1st half.
10/24 - There are a few selections to be wary of on Sunday in the NFL. San Francisco has to travel across the country to play an early start game, meaning that their body clocks are going to set at 10am. Also, they have to travel to London immediately after the game. Very tough spot for them. Also, Seattle is coming home after a big underdog outright win at Chicago. Arizona has had two weeks to prepare and might have more consistent quarterback play with Max Hall. The Cardinals could just lose by 3 or 4 points and still cover. A great two team teaser for today is to tease Philadelphia from +3 to +10 and tease Denver down to under a field goal favorite in their game against Oakland.
10/20 - There has been significant line movement in the Thursday night college football game between UCLA and Oregon. The Ducks opened as a 21 point favorite then immediately ticked a little higher to -21.5 and -22. Then within a few hours some major sharp money came in on Oregon moving it up to -24 and now -24.5. You have to respect that kind of line movement, especially since it was immediately moved to -24. The sportsbooks respected whoever made a move on Oregon -21 and -21.5, but there could also be a chance for buying back on UCLA at +25 if it gets that high by kickoff. The betting public will be all over Oregon throughout the day tomorrow. As of now though, there isn't much value in taking Oregon anymore because the line has moved so far.
10/18 - There are some great prop bets to make in tonight's NFL ESPN Monday Night Football game between Tennessee and Jacksonville. The first is UNDER 192.5 passing yards for Vince Young. Another related prop bet is to take David Garrard to throw for 7.5 more yards than Vince Young. However, you must shop around for that line because it is vastly different depending on what sportsbook you have. Jacksonville is going to throw the ball more tonight whether they are ahead or behind. Jeff Fisher doesn't trust Vince Young anyway, so his yards and attempts will be limited.
10/12 - San Diego is receiving a great deal of disrespect by the media and betting public, the Chargers have outgained their opponents by an average of 215 yards this season...a staggering number. The Chargers have dominated their opponents yardage wise but turnovers and special teams mistakes have cost them victories. San Diego is much better than the betting public realizes.
10/11 - Two good player props for tonight's ESPN Monday Night Football game are the following: Visanthe Schiancoe UNDER 4.5 receptions and Randy Moss UNDER 4.5 receptions. Alot of juice because they have already been bet up by sharp money though. Moss is a big play receiver and just entered the offense, and Schiancoe is banged up with a hamstring injury. With the addition of Moss and the other offensive weapons, there simply isn't enough balls to go around to get both of these guys 5 receptions.
10/10 - These are two great player props that we are recommending today. DONOVAN MCNABB - UNDER 220.5 passing yards, and AARON RODGERS OVER 268.5 passing yards. Washington is going to run the ball and Green Bay is going to throw the ball to take advantage of each defense's weaknesses.
10/8 - Here are the last selections left off of my card...these plays came close to being premium selections but didn't quite make it. NORTHERN ILLINOIS -3, EASTERN MICHIGAN +25, WYOMING +34, AND KENTUCKY +6.5. I can really see Kentucky beating Auburn outright, but the Wildcats have just been so bad at stopping the run. Florida and Mississippi have completely run all over them, and Auburn is primarily a run first team with Cameron Newton. However, this is only Auburn's second conference road game this season.
10/4 - Here are two very good prop selections in tonight's Monday Night Football game between New England and Miami. RONNIE BROWN OVER 62.5 RUSHING YARDS (-150), and UNDER 4 SACKS COMBINED FOR BOTH TEAMS (-150).
10/3 - Not too much line movement this week in the NFL lines. It should be noted that Jacksonville has gone from a +7.5 to +7 underdog even though public money is pouring in on Indianapolis. Sharp money has moved that line. The Jaguars have played the Colts tough over the years, and the Colts are banged up. Jacksonville was also embarrassed at home last week, but they don't have a strong home field edge.
Carolina also went from a 14 to 13 point underdog. New York Giants opened at -3.5 then went up to -4.5 and is now coming back down to -3.5 and -3 in a few spots. Also, Pittsburgh just went up from a -1.5 to -2.5 favorite.
10/2 - A great way to make consistent profits in the NFL is to back ugly underdogs that the public won't be inclined to take. Here are some examples of some underdogs that won't be popular on Sunday but have a decent chance of covering. These are just leans and not premium selections though so keep that in mind. CLEVELAND +3, BUFFALO +6, WASHINGTON +6, OAKLAND +3, CAROLINA +13, ST LOUIS +1.5.
9/30 - Here's a great website for bettors looking for college football injury information. http://www.collegeinjuryreport.com. Injuries aren't as important in college football as in the NFL but still just another good source. Alot of times there are injuries in the NFL that won't be represented in the point spread but will affect the outcome of games. Injuries to offensive linemen and the defense will affect the outcome significantly sometimes.
9/19 - Note that this past weekend in college football, the best teams in the country were able to cover large point spreads against much weaker programs. Look for spots to fade large favorites when that team is not a dominant team. Like this past weekend teams like Oregon State, USC, SMU, and Mississippi all failed to cover as large double digit favorites. Where as teams like Alabama and TCU rolled to easy ATS wins.
